ALF SAYERS MEMORIAL TROPHY 2023

On 16 July 2023 we held our very successful tournament when 12 visiting teams played a series of short games for the Alf Sayers Memorial Trophy. This involves a great effort by club members before and on the day itself. The weather is always a worry and this year we had the problem of high winds. With many gazebos erected to protect players from sun or rain, some of us were unable to fully relax as the wind periodically lifted the covers leading to the framework parting. Emergency repairs were carried out by our members and the visitors as well. Despite these problems everyone enjoyed the day, the games, the hospitality and the companionship.

The games continued to determine which 2 teams would play in the final. The final was a very close game with some brilliant bowling by both teams. The winners were Gordon’s team “Wrong Bias” beating Sue’s team “The Losers”.
