Nutley Newsletter May 2022
As I write this report I can only say I have not yet seen much of flaming June.
The weather has not been very kind so far but we live in hope.
We have continued with our friendly matches and are now involved with the league games. Over the next 2 months we will also be playing other games for our internal competitions hoping to win one of our trophies on finals day to be held on 3 September. By then our season will almost be at an end. We will gather later for our end of season BBQ. We will be holding our quiz on 1 October but more news of that will be in the September issue.
As I have said in previous issues, we do need more players. I can assure you if you are interested in playing this peaceful and sometimes frustrating game, you will be coached and then get regular weekly games. Just contact one of the contacts in this magazine or just turn up on any Tuesday morning when the working party will be there and able to help you.
On 17th July we will again be hosting our fundraising day when we invite 12 teams from other bowls clubs to participate in a number of short triples games for the Alf Sayers Memorial Trophy. This is a full-on day for all the club members and thoroughly enjoyed by all our visitors. Let us hope for a fine day.
Finally, May has not been a kind month to us. Very sadly we learned of the passing away of 2 of our long standing and experienced bowlers. They will be very much missed at the club and we have sent our condolences to the families.
